Main Features of the Curriculum

Tutorial Groups To establish rapport between the teacher and the taught, all the students are divided into tutorial groups. Each group is placed under the guidance of a tutor who keeps records of the activities and progress of the students of the group during their stay in the college.

National Service Scheme The N.S.S. Unit of the college provides opportunities to the college students to participate in projects of community service in the adjoining localities.

Co-Curricular Activities The intra and inter college co-curricular competitions like debates, declamation, elocutions, quiz , creative writing, poetry recitation, slogan writing, mock press conference, painting, cooking, salad dressing, flower arrangements competitions etc are organized throughout the year. In addition, many of the competitions related to the professional training of the students like “Skill in Teaching”, “Blackboard Writing” and “Preparation of Teaching Aids” are also organized to enhance their professional skills.
To sensitize and educate students on some important social and health issues, various camps, campaigns, rallies and workshops are organized.

Guidance Unit The Department of Guidance and Counselling of the college has been established. The following are the outlines of the activities of the Department:
1. Guidance and Counselling is a compulsory subject for B.Ed classes.
2. As and when some youth of the college requires psychological or counselling, help is extended by a fully qualified counselor.
3. Extension lectures relating to counselling are also provided for the benefit of students.

Value Education Periods Value Education periods are organized on Mondays and are an important feature of college life. Students contribute speeches, devotional songs etc. to these programmes. The important days and landmarks of Indian and world history are celebrated during these assemblies.

Sports Sports and Athletic activities, which are held regularly, are compulsory for all the students. Annual Athletic meet is held which witnesses enthusiastic student participation.

Alumni Association The college has decided to establish Alumni Association so that the students of this college keep in constant touch with the faculty of the college even after completion of their course
The major decisions taken are to hold regular meetings of the association, to start welfare programmes for students, to make the best use of service of the old students and make planned efforts to establish this college as center of advanced studies and research in education.

Placement Cell The College Placement cell invites enrollment from all the Teacher Graduates or Post Graduates of the college who are interested in seeking employment in Education sector. It caters primarily to the employment needs of schools, colleges of education and other educational institutions. The Prospective employers are welcome to mail their requirements to the cell. We assure prompt quality service.

Women Cell: The College is having its women cell functioning since 2009-10. The cell has been established in order to protect the women staff and students associated with the college from any sorts of injustice or sexual harassment of any nature directly and indirectly.

College Magazine Students are encouraged to contribute articles for the college bulletin/ magazine in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages. Note
i. Admission in the B.Ed. course is subject based. At the time of admission each candidate shall opt for two teaching subjects. A candidate can opt for only those teaching subjects, which he/she has studied at graduation/post-graduation level.
ii. Candidates who have passed additional subjects at graduation level must ensure that they opt only those teaching subjects marks of which are taken into account for the purpose of calculating the percentage of marks at the graduation level.
